City of Westminster

PW reported that Grosvenor is planning the wholesale redevelopment of two acres of land opposite Claridges. The company has employed Sir Michael Hopkins to draw up a masterplan under the code name ‘Project Osprey’ for the triangular site bounded by Brook Street, South Moulton Lane and Davies Steret.

Kensington & Chelsea

EG reported that Native Land has been selected as Transport for London’s joint venture partner for the long-awaited redevelopment of South Kensington tube station. A proposed mixed-use scheme will restore a Grade II arcade and provide 30,809 sq ft of retail, 24,438 sq ft of residential and 12,853 sg ft of offices. The developer fought off competition from Crosstree and Chelsfield to win the mandate.

Tower Hamlets

PW reported that budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced plans to open a further 20 hotels in 2018, including a flagship hotel on Middlesex Street near The Gherkin, with 395-rooms and a restaurant.
